James Wright Flinn died the day after his father John William Flinn, (manager, presumably of the Fisherman’s Arms). The two were filling a tin with petrol, struck a match to see if the tin was full and both died from their burns in hospital. They were buried together on the same day and in the same plot. Mother Elizabeth joined them in the plot less than three years later. The story of the men’s deaths merited a short paragraph in the Daily Mirror on 3rd October 1945.
