The Western Mail on 29th May 1943 reveals the circumstances behind Leslie’s death:

“Leslie Frederick Woods, aged 30, was killed when he fell from a cliff at Sprinkle Bay, Manorbier, Pembroke.

Walking near the edge of the cliff with three other men, he slipped and fell more than 70ft.

A verdict of “Accidental death” was recorded by Col. G.T. Kelway, the coroner, at the inquest.”
