Grimsby lad Joseph Collinson joined the Army Service Corps in January 1917, the day before his eighteenth birthday. After serving in England, Scotland and Ireland, in August 1918, he crossed the channel to Calais as part of the British Expeditionary Force.

Joseph joined 30th Division as a Driver, at a time when they had just crossed the border into Belgium. He was later attached to the 96th Field Ambulance and remained with them for almost a year after the Armistice.

This is the story of Joseph's Collinson's war, pieced together from his service record, a post-war diary and a divisional history.
