One of the Friends of Cleethorpes Heritage's long-term aims is for this website to become a significant online resource for people interested in researching the history of the Cleethorpes and Grimsby area. We are therefore delighted to announce that local historian Alan Dowling has kindly agreed to allow FOCH to publish a number of his articles on our website.

Alan has written extensively on the history of the local area, including the books "Cleethorpes: The Creation of a Seaside Resort" (2005), "Grimsby: Making the Town 1800-1914" (2007) and "Street Names of Cleethorpes" (2010). The former head librarian for the Grimsby and Cleethorpes area, he has a degree in local history and was awarded a PhD for a research thesis on the historical growth of Grimsby and Cleethorpes.
