Coliseum Memories

If you have any photos or memories of the Coliseum, we'd love to hear from you. Friends of Cleethorpes Heritage is working on a project about the history of 26-28 High Street in conjunction with JD Wetherspoons and we need your help.
We have pictures from its years as a snooker hall, market hall and amusements centre, as well as its recent incarnations as a pub and nightclub, but we're hoping to find some images from earlier times. The building has been part of the Cleethorpes High Street landscape for well over a century and has a very chequered past.
According to Margaret Hart's book "Cleethorpes and the Meggies", as well as being a cinema and theatre, it was a boxing hall for the Manchester Regiment in WW1, a distribution point for gas masks in WW2, an auction house, a dance hall and a short-lived venue for ballroom dancing tuition. It also has a shady past involving illegal drinking and gambling in the 1930s and hosted boxing matches as the Coliseum Stadium.
