Kybernetisk intelligens

Alt liv utnytter energi

intelligence: present participle of intelligere "to understand, comprehend, come to know," from assimilated form of inter "between" (see inter-) + legere "choose, pick out, read," from PIE root *leg- (1) "to collect, gather," with derivatives meaning "to speak (to 'pick out words')."

Her kommer jeg tilbake til min mosjonshypotese, og "The ‘prediction imperative’ as the basis for self-awareness" av Rodolfo R. Llinás og Sisir Roy :

"…global brain function is geared towards the implementation of intelligent motricity. Motricity is the only possible external manifestation of nervous system function (other than endocrine and exocrine secretion and the control of vascular tone).

The intelligence component of motricity requires, for its successful wheeling, a prediction imperative to approximate the consequences of the impending motion.

We address how such predictive function may originate from the dynamic properties of neuronal networks."

Kan hende at min Entropi-intoleranse også har sammenheng med dette fenomen…‽

"We're terrible animals. I think that the Earth's immune system is trying to get rid of us, as well it should."
Kurt Vonnegut (1922-2007)

"The quantity of force which can be brought into action in the whole of Nature is unchangeable, and can neither be increased nor diminished."

Hermann von Helmholtz (1821-1894)

"In speaking of the Energy of the field, however, I wish to be understood literally. All energy is the same as mechanical energy, whether it exists in the form of motion or in that of elasticity, or in any other form. The energy in electromagnetic phenomena is mechanical energy."

James Clerk Maxwell (1831-1879)

"The life contest is primarily a competition for available energy."

Ludwig Boltzmann (1844-1906)

"Matter and energy seem granular in structure, and so does “life”, but not so mind."

Erwin Schrödinger (1887-1961)

“Information is information, not matter or energy.”

Norbert Wiener (1894-1964)

“One of the greatest achievements of modern science was, that it proved the indestructibility of energy through all the ceaseless transformations which it undergoes in the universe.”

Peter Kropotkin (1842-1921)

“Living forms are not in being, they are happening, they are the expression of a perpetual stream of matter and energy which passes through the organism and at the same time constitutes it.”

"Higher, directed forms of energy (e. g., mechanical, electric, chemical) are dissipated, that is, progressively converted into the lowest form of energy, i. e., undirected heat movement of molecules; chemical systems tend toward equilibria with maximum entropy; machines wear out owing to friction; in communication channels, information can only be lost by conversion of messages into noise but not vice versa, and so forth."

Ludwig von Bertalanffy (1901-1972)

“It takes far more energy and work to improve from incompetence to mediocrity than it takes to improve from first-rate performance to excellence.”

Peter F. Drucker (1909-2005)

"In 1859 the human race discovered a huge treasure chest in its basement. This was oil and gas, a fantastically cheap and easily available source of energy. We did, or at least some of us did, what anybody does who discovers a treasure in the basement - live it up, and we have been spending this treasure with great enjoyment."

Kenneth E. Boulding (1910-1993)

"The world, as we perceive it, is our own invention"

"First-order cybernetics is the science of observed systems; Second-order cybernetics is the science of observing systems."

Heinz von Foerster (1911-2002)

"Energy is the master resource, because energy enables us to convert one material into another. As natural scientists continue to learn more about the transformation of materials from one form to another with the aid of energy, energy will be even more important."

Julian Simon (1932-1998)

"high quanta of energy degrade social relations just as inevitably as they destroy the physical milieu."

"Below a threshold of per capita wattage, motors improve the conditions for social progress. Above this threshold, energy grows at the expense of equity. Further energy affluence then means decreased distribution of control over that energy."

"Once the critical quantum of per capita energy is surpassed, education for the abstract goals of a bureaucracy must supplant the legal guarantees of personal and concrete initiative. This quantum is the limit of social order."

" Participatory democracy demands low-energy technology, and free people must travel the road to productive social relations at the speed of a bicycle."

"A people can be just as dangerously overpowered by the wattage of its tools as by the caloric content of its foods, but it is much harder to confess to a national overindulgence in wattage than to a sickening diet.A people can be just as dangerously overpowered by the wattage of its tools as by the caloric content of its foods, but it is much harder to confess to a national overindulgence in wattage than to a sickening diet."

Ivan Illich (1926-2002)

"We have become a plague upon ourselves and upon the Earth. It is cosmically unlikely that the developed world will choose to end its orgy of fossil energy consumption, and the Third World its suicidal consumption of landscape. Until such time as Homo Sapiens should decide to rejoin nature, some of us can only hope for the right virus to come along."

David Graeber (1961-2020)

"Everything is underlied by energy. As I always say, there is no economy, there is only energy conversion. Money is only a very imperfect way how to measure energy flows in society. So what happens is we got this supercheap energy — both the fuel, and electricity, and the food energy."

“Energy is the only universal currency: one of its many forms must be transformed to another in order for stars to shine, planets to rotate, plants to grow, and civilizations to evolve.”

"This is a finite planet. There is a finite amount of energy. There is finite efficiency of converting it by animals and crops. And there are certain sensitivities in terms of biogeochemical cycles, which will tolerate only that much. I mean, that should be obvious to anybody who’s ever taken some kind of kindergarten biology."

Vaclav Smil

“Energy-momentum tells the metric fluid how to flow.

The metric fluid tells energy-momentum how to flow.

Electric charge tells the electromagnetic fluid how to flow.

The electromagnetic fluid tells electric charge how to flow.

Weak charge tells the weak fluid how to flow.

The weak fluid tells weak charge how to flow.

Strong charge tells the strong fluid how to flow.

The strong fluid tells strong charge how to flow.”

Frank Wilczek

“When we burn fossil fuel for energy we are, in qualitative terms, doing nothing more wrong than burning wood. Our wrongdoing, if that is an appropriate term, is taking energy from Gaia hundreds of times faster than it is naturally made available. We are sinning in a quantitative not a qualitative way.”
James Lovelock
