Warm- Up Activity

Human Barometer

Students stand in a group in the middle of the room. The leader will list two different options (ex. Vanilla or Chocolate). The leader will say, “Go to this side of the room if you like Vanilla. Go to this side of the room if you like Chocolate”.

Here are some that you can use:

Popsicle or Lollypop? Beans or rice? Sandals or shoes? Baseball or football?

Action movie or comedy movie? Long hair or short hair? Youtube or Netflix? Shower at night or shower in the morning?

Cats or dogs? Bike or skateboard? Running or Swimming? Vans or Nikes?

Circle Question

Empathy -- The ability to understand and share the feelings of another person. Empathy is often explained by the phrase, "Putting yourself in someone else's shoes".

  1. Tell the group about a time where you had to have empathy for someone in your life.

  2. Tell the group about a time where you felt misunderstood and wish that others had empathy for you.

Closing Activity

Circle Clap

Start with the circle leader, who will give one clear, loud clap. The person next to them then follows with the same. Keep going around the circle until everyone has clapped. After the last person, the whole group will do one clear, loud clap simultaneously. Try it a few times and see how fast and efficient you can get!
