Teachers, please be on the lookout for students demonstrating Responsibility. Sign the bottom of the planner with an early to lunch note!
If you ever need to talk to Ms. O'Donnel you can let her know by filling out this form: http://tinyurl.com/imiddlecounselor
We are two weeks away from the end of P2! Are you checking PowerSchool? Are you being responsible and keeping up with your assignments. Be sure to check in with your teachers if you are struggling or have any questions about past work.
Girls who were nominated to go on the field trip this Thursday, don't forget to turn in your permission slips to Ms O'Donnell!
Get Organized: Clean out back packs, organize 3 ring binders (no loose papers).
Check for Late or Missing Work - lets get caught up!
If you are interested in coming on the coding field trip, come to S3 during lunch to learn more about it. Bring you lunch and you can eat in S3 (as long as you clean up after yourself) :) The trip is open to the first 25 students who return permission slips. It is on Nov 23rd. Come at lunch for more details.
It is DEAR (Drop Everything And Read) time! If students do not have a book from which to read, they should be work on Lexia's PowerUp. All students should know how to log in through Clever. Advisory teachers should monitor through Happara to ensure students only have that tab open and are actively working on Lexia if they do not have a book.
If you have LOP make sure you report to the LOP lunch area immediately at the end of Advisory. Do not get lunch or go see your friends. You will be allowed to eat in LOP.
Please note that "I forgot" or "They didn't come and get me" are not excuses and will result in more LOPs or greater consequences. Thank you for being responsible and reporting to LOP when assigned.
Last week you learned a little about Genius Hour. One of the key points is that what you do should make a difference for someone else! This week you have a chance to do just that!
We have the opportunity to participate in a letter writing campaign! Below is the information:
What should I write? Anything! There's no wrong answer for your thank you note. Here are some ideas to get you started:
Start with "Dear Service Person", "Dear Patriot", "Dear Brave One", or your own greeting. Avoid "Dear Soldier", "Dear Marine" or "Dear Sailor" as these are specific military branches, and we cannot guarantee that your letter will be going to that service.
Say thank you for their service, dedication, sacrifice, hard work and time away from home.
How does their service affect your life? (Keeping your family safe, provides protection for our country, gives you the ability to spend the holidays safely with your family.)
Write about yourself (no last names/addresses). We've heard from service persons who say that hearing a little about who they are serving helps put into perspective the importance of their service.
Avoid any political commentary.
Kids can draw a picture!
Be sure to follow these rules:
8.5" x 11" or smaller.
No photocopies.
Be positive.
Be kind and uplifting.
No glitters.
No envelopes.
Unfolded.
Handwritten letters only, no store-bought cards.
Do not attach food.
You can draft your letter on your computer (use spell check and grammar check) and then HAND WRITE your FINAL COPY on the template your advisory teacher has. You should finish your letter by the end of Advisory on Friday.
Early to lunch for students who have a filled in planner for the week or a signature for the week for respect!
Please complete your letter from yesterday!
