understanding emotions

Watch the video below...

Haven - Brains and Emotions (scroll down to "Understanding Emotions" - the video with the Bee)

Then read the statements about feelings and how to best understand emotions located below the movie.

Take out a piece of paper and answer the following questions:

  • Think about the last time you were mad. What do you think your underlying emotion was??
  • Think about the last time you felt that an intense emotion or feeling would last forever. What actions, positive or negative, did you take because of these feelings?
  • Think about the last time you were very happy or very upset. Identify which needs were met or unmet (think back to underlying needs from last week!) and name your subsequent emotions.

ASB Team Challenge:

Use Your Brain : Logic Puzzle

This week's ASB Advisory challenge will be to solve a logic puzzle. You will have to use your brain and logical reasoning to solve this puzzle. Use the chart to help you eliminate wrong choices (with an X) and keep correct choices (with an O). Work in pairs or small groups to try to solve the puzzle. If you think you've solved it show your ASB reps. If you're right, your ASB rep will take the evidence to be recorded. The first team to get the correct answer will be the ASB Team challenge winner.

Logic Puzzle Tips:

  1. As you read a clue, put an X in any box that is eliminated as a possible answer.
  2. Once you know an answer for sure, put an O in the box and X out all other boxes in the row and column of that category.
  3. After you have read all the clues once and X’ed the boxes, re-read the clues, applying what you learned once you got through all the clues.
  4. Use the information going side-to-side to help X out information going to-to-bottom, and vice-versa.
  5. Fill out the answer grid as you go.

Don't forget - Next week is SPIRIT WEEK!!!!

Monday: Dress up like your favorite Disney character. If you dress up you'll get out to lunch 10 minutes early, and will be in our yearbook!
