Introduction to the HISTORY CAN FOOD STEAM CHALLENGE.

Today you will learn what the STEAM challenge is. Tomorrow you will plan your model and make your presentation.

BRING IN NON PERISHABLE FOOD!!! Turn it in to your advisory class. The Food drive runs until the day before Thanksgiving break, but try to bring in your food as soon as possible so that you have a better idea of what you will be working with. The more food your advisory class brings in, the more modeling options you will have.

Announcements:

Congratulate the iMiddle Robotics Team. The Vex team competed three weekends ago and made it to the quarter finals for the first time ever. They are competing again this weekend. The First Lego team competed this last weekend and solved 5 different challenges.

Announcements continued:

  • Thank you ASB for a fun filled and spooky Halloween Remix Dance on Friday night! If you missed it hopefully you will be able to join us for the next dance in the spring.
  • New lunchtime procedures will begin today. Students are no longer allowed in the areas by the the tree/grass or in between the library and science buildings. This is a direct result of the trash, foul language and issues that have been arising in these areas. Starting next Monday 11/13 students with a GPA of 3.5 or higher will be given a pass to use this area if they want. Students must have the pass to come in. If you want to go to the library or to a teacher's classroom during lunch, you will need to have a pass (This week we will practice, and fully enforce having passes next Monday)

11/10 Day 3 Thursday- The Pitch Thursday last 15 minutes of class

Presentations should be max of 2 minutes. If you don't finish them Thursday, you will finish them Monday, but this will cut into your build time. After the presentations pick several structures to build. Teachers will probably pick the groups. Maximum group size is 10. Each group in the class can build a different structure. Remember: Your group will not get to start building until they have a well documented plan for what they are going to create.

BRING IN LOTS OF NON-PERISHABLE FOOD FOR MONDAY!!

If you finish early you can look at the instruction video for next Monday. It is on the MODELING HISTORY STEAM Challenge page. The video will probably talk about "Structures" instead of Modeling History, but the ideas are the same.
