/ˈˌself kənˈtrōl/
noun
the ability to control oneself, in particular one's emotions and desires or the expression of them in one's behavior, especially in difficult situations.
Experts suggest that we need to think of self-control as a “muscle”; something we can train in order to increase our willpower.
Teachers, please be on the lookout for students demonstrating self-control . Sign the bottom of the planner with an early to lunch note for next Monday!
Calling all 1st through 6th grade students…the City of San Diego Public Utilities Department is looking for the next Michelangelo. Please participate in the 19th Annual Kids’ Water Conservation Poster Contest. This year’s theme is: Where can we catch the rain……and What can we do with it? Every day you have a chance to save water from being wasted. Draw a picture of you “catching the rain” and what you could do with it to save water!
The deadline to submit entries is March 22, 2019. Each student who creates a poster will receive a certificate of participation. In each grade level, three winners citywide will be selected. These winning student artists will receive a gift card and a Certificate of Excellence. Additionally, they will be recognized at an award ceremony at the San Diego City Council Chambers in May. The winning artwork will be displayed in June at the San Diego Watercolor Society’s Gallery and at the San Diego County Fair. The winning posters will also be featured in our 2020 Water Conservation Calendar.

We hope you had a great Superbowl weekend. Now it's time to focus back on school for the week. Semester 2 is one week underway, and some of you already have missing assignments. Please check your power school and make sure you are up to date on all assignments. Now is the time to develop the habits of using your class time wisely to get as much done as you can, writing down your work in your planner, checking Powerschool at least 2x a week, and turning in all assignments on time, even if they are not complete (although completed work is best!)
Reminder that speakers are not allowed to be out or on while on campus. Also, it is advised to leave valuables at home. If you still choose to bring a Bluetooth speaker to school please make sure it is off and put away or it will be confiscated.
