If you have questions about what Genius hour is and is not please visit this site: Genius Hour.
Today we want to start brainstorming some genius hour project ideas. Here are some key points:
Your teacher MUST approve your project.
No project will be officially approved until Thursday or Friday (we have some steps to take first)
Your project should be something you are excited about - you should be building, learning and sharing what you know.
Your project should have a purpose - it should make a difference in some one else's life!
Teachers please guide your students through the process of making the following lists to get inspired. This can also be found on the Inspiration page in the "idea generator" section.
To get you thinking about what you might be able to do take out a piece of paper and fold in in 4. Label each quadrant with the following headings:
10 Things I love to do
10 Things I am good at
10 Things I like to learn about
10 Things I wonder...
On the back of your paper answer the following 5 questions by creating a list for each one. You may just find an idea for your genius hour!
Who am I right now?
Who do I want to be?
How do I want to be known?
When I think of my perfect life, what is in it?
What inspires me to "DO"?
IF you have additional time students should visit Inspiration page and look at some of the types of project they could do.
If you have LOP make sure you report to the LOP lunch area immediately at the end of Advisory. Do not get lunch or go see your friends. You will be allowed to eat in LOP.
Please note that "I forgot" or "They didn't come and get me" are not excuses and will result in more LOPs or greater consequences. Thank you for being responsible and reporting to LOP when assigned.
Please watch about our Human of the Week! :)
We are going to continue our brainstorming for the projects that we might do for Genius hour:
Remember we discussed some of these key points:

On Tuesday we worked on the following storms: This can also be found on the Inspiration page in the "idea generator" section. IF you did not finish, please complete this now.

Once all students have completed the above they should visit Inspiration page and look at some of the types of project they could do.
LOOK over your lists - we want you to generate 3 possible projects. Here are the questions you must be able to answer about each of your project ideas:
What will you learn, create or innovate (make better)?
How will you use what you have done to make difference for some one else?
How will you share/document your journey?
Have your classmates give you feedback on each of your project ideas. If you need help or want to review the resources from last week you can visit our Genius Hour Get Started Page. Ideas Page

Get Organized: Clean out back packs, organize 3 ring binders (no loose papers).
Check for Late or Missing Work - lets get caught up!
Today you will submit your ideas to your advisory teacher for approval. Please follow your advisory teacher's instructions for how they want you to get approval. They may want to conference with you, have you fill out a form or submit a paper to them.
