Period 1
Pass out Planners to all students. Have students write their names and schedule in the planner. Write your lunch pin on the front page of your planner as well, by your schedule. Let students know that we will be reviewing the planner page by page throughout the week. Students need their planners with them everyday. Show this quick guide on how to use the planner wisely
Pass out Enrollment Packets to all students. Encourage everyone to return their enrollment packets by Wednesday 8/23 to Per 1 Teachers. Full SOAR card with 4 stickers to students who turn in their completed packets on Tuesday (given by per 1 teacher).
Period 2
Begin the lessons on SOAR-this period we will start with Safety
Turn to the SOAR rubric "Sky Hawks SOAR" in the planner and point out the column on Safety
Watch the first half of the video on Safety, pausing the video to discuss at 1:12. Do not go on to the second half of video (we will do Ownership next period).
Discuss in small groups, then as a whole, one commitment you are willing to make to keep safe at iMiddle.
Period 3
Review the nutrition break and the nutrition break and the lunch procedure
Period 4
Continue SOAR lesson with Ownership
Turn to the SOAR rubric "Sky Hawks SOAR" in the planner and point out the column on Ownership
Watch the second half of the video on Ownership, starting the video at 1:13 and stopping at 2:18. (Ignore the last part that says Advisory students, go to google slide for instructions and instead proceed below)
Give students a few minutes to reflect individually or as a group on what ownership means to them, then have students turn to today in their planner, and on the bottom box above parent signature, have students write down one way they will take ownership of themselves, their learning, or their behavior this year
Period 5
Continue SOAR lesson with Attitude and Respect
Turn to the SOAR rubric "Sky Hawks SOAR" in the planner and point out the column on Attitude and Respect
Watch the Video on Attitude and Respect (Stopping at 1:35)
Have students turn to page 40 in their planners, called RESPECT
Read together the definition of respect and Whom do you respect. Have students fill out the Why do you respect these people section; call on some students to share
Read the What do you respect portion together. Have students fill out the Why do you respect certain things section; call on some students to share
Period 6
SOAR cards and Self Respect
First read together page 41 of your planner Self Respect
Now let's show some self-respect by earning some SOAR cards!!
Review the presentation on what SOAR cards are
Time to start earning those cards!!
If you have not done so already, PLEASE make sure you wrote your name and your schedule on the first two pages of the planner!!! :)
iMiddle Clubs!!!
We will be having clubs starting in the next couple of weeks during the student support time. This Thursday and Friday we will have a Club Fair during the Student Support time for you to speak to the teachers hosting the clubs and get more information about which ones you would like to join! HERE is a list of the clubs that will be available.
