Students recently completed a lesson on two body systems, where they researched diseases of their choice using guided questions and online resources. They ensured their findings were thorough and accurate before creating a patient profile using a realistic medical record form, similar to those in a doctor’s office. Each student then took on the role of a doctor, analyzing two patient records to diagnose the conditions based on symptoms provided. This hands-on activity reinforced the importance of thorough research, accurate symptom identification, and clear communication. By simulating a real-world medical scenario, students gained a deeper understanding of disease symptoms and the significance of maintaining their health.
"I enjoyed the Doctor, Doctor, lesson because it was true life experience. We learned about certain body systems and the importance of going to the doctor. We also, learned the importance of telling the doctor all our symptom."
"It was fun watching the students create their patient and then trying to diagnose their patient. I could see some of them found it challenging because they had little information to go off."
