4.8 The student will investigate and understand that Virginia has important natural resources.
4.2 Â The student will investigate and understand that plants and animals have structures that distinguish them from one another and play vital roles in their ability to survive.
Through a collaboration between Colonial Trail's fifth-grade students and Courtney Hallacher, the Wildlife Education Coordinator at the Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources, vodcasts were created to raise awareness about Virginia's endangered species. These vodcasts will be displayed on Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources website. This project allowed students to enhance their durable skills in the area of communication, collaboration and citizenship.

"I loved the experience of the Vodcast room, and I loved learning about a new animal. I might have done this project a little late, but I still had a lot of fun!"
"I really liked being in the vodcast room, I was amazed by how much easier it was to be on camera than I thought. At first the interview room was very confusing, but then I got the hang of it."
"I really enjoyed working in the vodcast studio I learned about how people work the camera behind the camera."
"This project allowed me to share my love of animal conservation with my students, and I learned about WeVideo and vodcasting in the process."
