Grade Level - 3rd
SOL/Standard -
3.5 The student will investigate and understand that aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems support a diversity of organisms.
Students began by exploring zoos online and viewing the animal cams to get a sense of how zoos are structured and organized. Students then were put into groups to create their own zoos. Each group was tasked with creating at least 2 zoo exhibits. Each exhibit needs to showcase a different ecosystem and various animals within that ecosystem. They will need to share their research and learning via signs and posters throughout the exhibit.
"Getting to use Minecraft to show our learning about ecosystems has been exciting. We worked together as a team to make our project. I am excited to show off what we built".
"Working together with the ILC on this project has been very beneficial for my students. They have been engaged and excited since it began. It has allowed me to deepen their understanding of content while working on collaboration skills and having fun".
