SOL/Standard - 2.W.1.C Modes and Purposes for Writing
C. Write opinion pieces on topics or texts that support a point of view with reasons.
After completing a unit on innovation and technology, students brainstormed ideas for robots that could assist them in their personal lives. They then wrote opinion papers explaining why their invented robots were the best. Using AI, they brought their robot designs to life and applied the STEM design thinking process to build their creations. Finally, they read their writings while animating their STEM projects.
"We love when we get to work with Mrs. Nixon on projects. She finds fun ways to teach us technology and new programs to make cool things. It’s always so fun to see how our projects turn out!"
"I like this project because of the building and I like being creative."
"I like making robots."
"We were able to take my ideas and expand them in a hands-on and technological way. I liked being able to find creative ways to help the students drive deeper into our lesson and learned concepts in a fun way."
