Students participated in the World of 8 Billion challenge. This contest is a project of Population Education that asks students to create a one minute video that addresses one of this year’s global topics, suggests a sustainable solution, and connects how human population growth impacts the topic. The topics students are able to choose from are Child Wellbeing, Rainforest Ecosystems, and Sanitation. Students used WeVideo to create their video and submitted the videos by March 5th for the contest. The awards for the videos are: 1st place receives $1200, 2nd place receives $600, and there will be 2 honorable mentions that receive $300. Students are looking forward to seeing the results of the contest in May.
"I loved my topic of rainforest deforestation. I found it interesting and learned a lot."
"I liked the variety of topics the students were able to choose from. I also liked that the challenge incorporated relevant topics to the students' everyday lives. This project also gave the students a new method of presenting information using WeVideo."Â
