ISTE 1.6.b Original and Remixed Works
Students create original works or responsibly repurpose or remix digital resources into new creations.
ISTE 1.6.c Communicate Complex Ideas
Students use digital tools to visually communicate complex ideas to others.
In this engaging learning experience, Kindergarten and First Grade students imagined and designed robots to help make the world a better place. They brainstormed ideas on how their robots could address various challenges, then brought their visions to life by creating 3D designs of the robots and the tools they would use.
Students were tasked to think critically about a problem that the community faces and how their robot could make a positive change. They articulated their ideas and shared their visions for a better world, enhancing their verbal and written communication skills. Additionally, the project encouraged students to think outside the box and use their imagination to design innovative robots and tools. Students developed a sense of global citizenship and responsibility by focusing on how their robots could improve the world.
"This coaching partnership showed students how collaboration is important when everyone has something else to bring to the table. Two General Education staff bring the science and ELA standards to the table, while the ILC brought computer science and digital learning into the classroom, allowing for an amazing outcome!"
