This project integrates history, geography, and creativity, allowing students to explore and celebrate their local community. By researching Henrico County's landmarks and incorporating them into a familiar game format, students will deepen their understanding of their surroundings and develop a sense of pride in their heritage. Students will design a unique Monopoly game that highlights Henrico County's historical sites, roads, and rivers. The goal is for each elementary school in the county to have its own copy of the game.
"Creating Henricopoly was a fun and exciting way to show Henrico’s past and present. We picked different places that show how much Henrico has changed and how important it is today. Working together as a team helped us come up with ideas and solve problems to make the game both fun and educational. Seeing the game come together made us realize how much effort goes into designing a game that teaches and entertains. We also learned a lot about Henrico that we didn’t know before. This project helped us see how much Henrico has grown and how important its history is. In the end, Henricopoly is more than just a game, it’s a way to explore and celebrate Henrico in a fun, interactive way."

"This partnership enabled students to revisit previously taught material and engage with it in a new way. It provided them with the chance to preserve their community’s history in an engaging manner that will be accessible to future students. Additionally, the partnership allowed students to utilize various technologies, helping them grow as LifeReady learners."
