b) plants have life cycles.
Students in grades K-2 studied the parts and life cycle of plants. This is a project that shows the progression of the aligned curriculum from kindergarten to second grade. In kindergarten, students planted plants and learned about the different stages of a plant using models. Our first graders built 3D STEAM Models of the plants and their parts, and our second graders created stop motion videos of a plant sprouting from a seed. Students had to plan and create each individual stage of their video which required them to think critically as well as creatively.
"I learned that plants start over again. I enjoyed getting to draw a sprout."
- Olivia
"That a seed turns into a flower: I liked the nice people coming to the table (during the presentations of learning."
- Skylar
"Students were able to take the information they have learned about plants and apply it to a stop motion video. Students had to use creative thinking skills to manipulate their images to accurately display the plant growth."
