By creating LEGO animals and associating them with corresponding letter sounds, ESL students reinforced their phonemic awareness and reading skills. For example, constructing an alligator for "A" helped solidify the connection between the letter and its sound. ESL students actively engaged in the construction and naming of their LEGO animals. This activity fostered creativity, collaboration, and fine motor skills, while also enhancing their language development and communication abilities as they wrote about their animals and recorded the information for their ESL Book Creator group book.Â
I learned a lot about different animals and the sounds their names start with.Building the LEGO animal was my favorite part.
This coaching collaboration had a positive impact on the ESL students by fostering their phonemic awareness, reading skills, and creativity. Through hands-on activities like constructing LEGO animals and linking them to letter sounds, ESL students actively engaged in learning. This approach enhanced their language development, fine motor skills, and communication abilities.
