Unit 5 of Benchmark was focused on the theme Technology. Students in fifth grade researched and wrote opinion papers about how much time children should spend on their devices. From this opinion writing, a group of students became passionate about limiting kids' screen time and what they have access to. This group of students worked on a pamphlet and presentation board to reflect their learning and to share with parents.
We learned how to use our devices and be safe. We learned what is better for you and your body and I learned not to always be on my device.

The students enjoyed getting to share their findings about something they were passionate about. The coaching partnership allowed the students more creative thinking and opportunities for collaboration.
