School-Wide Presentation of Learning EventÂ
The library and ILC took Herm students to read and complete a STEAM activity with 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade students at Dumbarton, Holladay, and Longdale Elementary. Around 300 Herm community members/stakeholders showed up to participate in over 20 stations run by Herm students and faculty.Â
"Hallowsteam is an experience I was so excited to take part in, especially knowing so many friends had tables of their own. I think the only regret I had that night was that my table kept me so busy I didn’t really get to stop by their tables. However, the tradeoff was worth it. The number of kiddos who stopped by and wanted to try our little mini-games made three hours pass like 30 minutes. It was an amazing night, and I will definitely be there next year and probably running one table or another."
"Our ILC encouraged us to incorporate STEAM to broaden our focus and make the night more fun. She suggested we shift the event from December to October so we could capitalize on the fun of Halloween. This year’s event allowed us to include more Herm students than ever because we focused on having clubs run the stations. The school visits also helped us make connections between current Panthers and their younger siblings. Our ILC was integral in planning and executing the activities we did with the feeder schools ahead of HalloSTEAM."
