Grade Level - Fourth Grade
SOL/Standard - VS.5 The student will demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the role of Virginia in the American Revolution by
b) identifying the various roles of American Indians, whites, enslaved African Americans, and free African Americans in the Revolutionary War era
Fourth grade Rams started the year investigating artifacts of American Indians, developing an understanding of the importance of artifacts in researching historical events. While studying the Revolutionary War, students learned that various people during that era had different roles. Our scholars dug in, learning about various roles and deciding on artifacts that could represent those roles. Learning to use Tinkercad to design them was an exciting challenge! As an extension, students decided what artifact would represent them in 200 years! So much critical and creative thinking!
"Remember the Tea Tax? I'm making a tea container because that was important!"
It was amazing to see how students used Tinkercad to bring their ideas to life through their artifacts. They truly enjoyed tapping into their creative abilities to showcase their learning. Collaborating with different teachers for this assignment was a fantastic experience. It not only enhanced the students' understanding of the subject but also highlighted the importance of teamwork and collaboration in achieving success. - Ms. Baugham
