Formula One 2022

Class of 2023
The two thousand twenty two season was dominated by the Flying Dutchman, Max Verstappen, on his way to a second consecutive championship. This was a season of records for the Dutchman;15 wins in a season (most ever); most points ever in a season (454); and a truly establishment season for Max, proving to everyone that he is on track to be one of the greats.
The Top 10 This Season:
1. Max Verstappen- Second World Championship for the Dutchman and one of the most dominating seasons in the sports history, taking the crown at Suzuka (Japanese Grand Prix), with four remaining races to go.

2. Charles Leclerc- A season that started so high for the Monegasque, with two wins in the opening three rounds, but poor strategy, bad luck, and a lightning quick Redbull/Max pairing quickly lead to Charles falling to second and out of championship contention.
3. Sergio Perez- This was a strong season for the Mexican driver, who played second fiddle to his teammate Max. With one pole, two wins, and third place in the championship, it was an overall strong showing.
4. George Russell- In his first season at Mercedes the Brit showed what he was capable of, beating Seven time champion Lewis Hamilton in the championship points 275 to 240, and taking a maiden win in Brazil.
5. Carlos Sainz Jr- In his second season with Ferrari, he once again showed his strong consistency with a win in Britain and 9 podiums total. Ferrari‘s poor strategy and poor reliability caused him to slip to 5th in the championship
6. Lewis Hamilton- This was an interesting season for the seven-time champ, losing to his younger, less experienced teammate. Russell was the better driver for most of the season, but Lewis really came alive towards the tail end, with 9 podiums this season.
7. Lando Norris- This was a brilliant season for the young Brit, who was criminally underrated. He was miles away from the rest of the midfield in a sub-par Mclaren. His highlight of the season was a podium in Imola.
8. Esteban Ocon- This was Ocon’s best season to date. He beat his extremely experienced, two time world champion teammate, Fernando Alonso, by being extremely consistent and capitalizing on others' mistakes. It was clear that he paired well with the strong Alpine car.
9. Fernando Alonso- This was a good season for the 41 year old Spaniard. He showed that he can fight with the young drivers, with a highlight of two P5s in Brazil and Spa. Alonso will be moving to Aston Martin for next season and beyond.
10. Valtteri Bottas- The Finn moved from Mercedes to Alfa Romeo this season and really came alive in the sub-par package with a highlight of P5 in Imola.
5 Highlights for the bottom 10 on the grid:
11. Daniel Ricciardo- The Aussie had a very poor season, he and the Mclaren car never fit well together. He got properly smashed by his teammate Lando Norris. This meant the team decided to drop him for younger talent, and the Man from Perth will not be racing in the sport next year.
12. Sebastian Vettel- 2022 was the last season for the four time world champion (as of now), and let me tell you, he got everything out of the sub-par Aston Martin, giving us the feeling that old Seb was back. Fernando Alonso will be replacing Seb next season.
13. Kevin Magnussen- This was the first year back in the sport for the Dane, after two years out. He did well in the Haas, who had a strong car at first ,but fell off at the end, and he comfortably beat his teammate.
14. Mick Shumacher- This was his second and last season to date in the sport. Although he had so much promise and glimpses of greatness throughout the season he just never seemed to meet his potential. Hopefully we’ll see him back soon.
15. Nicolas Latifi- This was Nicky's last season in the sport, only scoring a P9 in Japan, so for now, we say bye to the GOAT.
