Aly De La Noval

Class of 2025

This winter season there are a number of sports that are available: boys and girls wrestling, boys and girls basketball, and boys and girls track. Boys and girls wrestling is held in Mattituck with Mr. Fioretti coaching alongside Mattituck coach Mr. Mcginn. Wrestling matches are held in Islip, Miller Place, Babylon, Half Hallow Hills East, Southampton and their biggest meet of the season was held in East Shoreham. The Mattituck- Southold-Greenport wrestling teams are currently 2-2 in league, overall 2-3.

Winter Track is held at Suffolk Community College Indoor Track. While track events are individual, all the scores end up being combined for a final placing. For Southold-Greenport Girls Winter Track the stats are 3-4 in league and 4-4 overall and for the boys Southold-Greenport Winter Track the stats are 3-5 in league and 4-5 overall.

For our Greenport porters boys basketball team, the stats are: league games 4-5 and 4-10 overall. For our Greenport porters Girls basketball team they are3-5 in league and 4-6 overall. While heading into the last few weeks of these winter athletics, all of these teams are still in contention for playoffs.

On Friday, January 13, 2023, at 6:00pm, the Greenport Porters took on the Southold Settlers. With similar records, the matchup between the two teams was close.

Most of our Greenport athletic teams are joined together with the Southold teams, however boys basketball is an exception. The continuing rivalry and competition between these two schools always makes for an exciting match up.

All those in attendance were asked to wear green in support of Dylan Newman. Dylan was a Southold High School graduate who was diagnosed with a rare bone cancer, and unfortunately passed away September 20th of 2022. His presence was and still will continue to show throughout our communities.
