An Interview with Ms. Iannone.
Where did you grow up?
Westhampton.
Where did you attend high school?
Westhampton Beach High School.
Did you have a favorite subject in school?
Math & broadcast journalism.
When did you know you wanted to be a teacher?
I knew I wanted to be a teacher when I was in high school. I connected well with my teachers and they inspired me. I also enjoyed helping my peers and I thought I could continue helping people for the rest of my life.
What did you enjoy most about college?
I went to SUNY Cortland. I liked being independent and responsible for myself. I got to go food shopping, and decorate my room the way I wanted to. I also met lifelong friends in college.
Have you ever visited Greenport before coming to work here?
Yes! I spent a few summers in Greenport visiting my family friend's boat. They station their boat at Townsend Manor. I love the restaurants and the little boating town.
Do you have any particular interests outside of your career, such as sports or hobbies?
I like to be active. I like to go hiking and playing volleyball. I also love to cook and try new recipes.
What is your hidden talent?
A lot of people do not know that I enjoy singing. I was always in chorus in school and I enjoyed being a part of theater productions.
If you could have dinner with anyone (alive or dead) who would it be?
Andy Cohen. I am an avid Bravo TV watcher. I love to escape from the reality of my own world sometimes and I enjoy watching the entertaining "reality" TV shows on Bravo.
What made you want to work at Greenport?
I like the small community that Greenport has. I enjoy knowing the majority of the students in the hallways and getting the opportunity to get to know each of my students.
What would you like the students of Greenport to know about you?
I love being a teacher. It's not only that I enjoy my content of math, but I enjoy connecting with the students and teaching them how math is extremely important and relevant to our real lives. I lost a challenge and finding new and innovative ways to engage my students and make school fun.
