Imagine being a famous singer who has sold 13 million albums, won numerous awards on various popular award shows that stream all over the country, and attained the rank of number one artist in the entire world.
Taylor Alison Swift is an American singer-songwriter. She is a prominent cultural icon of the 21st century. Taylor was born on December 13th, 1989. She has recorded 243 songs across a total of 10 studio albums. Everything started when Taylor was only 12 years old. She broke into the spotlight in 2008 due to the popularity of her song Love Story. As many know, Taylor went on tour in 2023, embarking on The Eras Tour after releasing her 10th studio album Midnights.
After the tour’s presale was released, all the tickets were gone for the first show within the hour. Almost all 149 concert dates were completely sold out after 1 week. This tour was dedicated to each of the 10 albums Taylor has released even though she embarked on separate, individual tours for most of her albums before Covid hit.
After Covid, she continued releasing albums and, obviously, could not go on tour during the worldwide pandemic. Her solution to all of this was to go on a tour that represents each “era” of her life. On August 31st, she announced The Eras Tour Movie. This movie was produced so that the fans who were unable to attend and/or afford the concert could experience the artistic magic she created.
The Eras Tour Movie alone earned 92.8 million dollars in domestic theaters in the first three days it was released. During the month of October, the movie earned more than $100 million. A single adult ticket cost $19.89 which, unironically, is the year she was born and the name of her fifth studio album. Similarly, a single ticket for children/seniors cost $12.13 which is the date that she was born on.
On November 23rd, Taylor announced that she would release The Eras Tour Movie “at home” on her upcoming birthday. Scholars predict that this film will make her an abundance of money, on top of all the revenue from the in person concerts. As someone who has seen The Eras Tour Movie, I can tell you that the experience is astonishing. When I attended the movie I was with people who had a basic understanding of who Taylor Swift was but were never die hard fans. Even they thought that it was an amazing thing to experience and be a part of.
Overall the The Eras Tour was a groundbreaking moment in the music industry, along with The Eras Tour Movie being a monumental piece of the film industry.
