Interview with Ms. Labrozzi

Where did you grow up?
I grew up on Shelter Island.

Where did you attend high school and college?

I attended Shelter Island School and then SUNY Geneseo for my bachelors degree.

Did you have a favorite subject in school?

¡Español claro que sí! (Spanish of course!) But I also liked chorus and band a lot.

When did you know you wanted to be a teacher?

I knew I wanted to be a teacher around 9th grade of high school. I am not a big fan of change per se, so finding a career that I was already familiar with seemed like a great idea to me. And so far that idea has been great! I’m loving my first year.

What did you enjoy most about college?

I definitely enjoyed meeting new people and getting to experience a new town in the “real world” away from home. I also loved getting to live in an apartment with my friends.

Have you ever visited Greenport before coming to work here?

Being from Shelter Island, I’ve been to Greenport countless times. Whether it was for fun or for school activities like sports or NYSSMA, I’ve always had a great time while here.

Do you have any particular interests outside of your career, such as sports or hobbies?

During the summer I work in a plant shop, which really got me into loving plants. So now I am slowly turning my apartment into a plant sanctuary. I also love looking for beach glass and spending time outside in general.

What is your hidden talent?

My hidden talents are that I can move one eyebrow at a time and can sing the alphabet backwards.

If you could have dinner with anyone (alive or dead) who would it be?

Jensen Ackles! He is my favorite actor.

What would you like the students of Greenport to know about you?

I’d love for them to know that I am here to stay!
