Orange Shirt Day

Thursday was orange shirt day for Robina Baker School. It was so nice to see everyone in orange supporting reconciliation in our country. We spent some time this past week working on reconciliation in PK. We had an age appropriate conversation about the traditional land our school is on and engaged the students in saying a land acknowledgement together with our staff.

We used the book, With Our Orange Hearts, to have a brief, pre-k levelled discussion about residential schools and the reason we have orange shirt day.

We tried a Mi'kmaq friendship dance and listened to Kokum's Lullaby while quietly learning how to use a glitter jar as a calming tool. I will include both the Mi'kmaq music we danced to, as well as Kokum's Lullaby incase you want to enjoy these songs at home as well.

Build, Build, Build!

Thank you to all the families that sent in recyclables last week. After reading the story, Not a Box, we had oodles of fun creating at school. From airplanes to houses, the imagination in the room was endless!

A&W is Open!

A huge thank you to Mr. Kanagaraj and Devon A&W for donating oodles of cups, boxes, containers, and other cool things for us to build and explore with! Not only were these materials fun to create with, they were also amazing to pretend with. We set up an A&W restaurant in the house centre, and all of our little A&W employees were busy this week serving up delicious food to hungry customers!

Pictures Galore!

As you can see, we finally have the green light to post pictures on the blog! I have went back and posted the links for the pictures from our first few weeks of school as well. To see the pictures from each week, please go back to that week's post and scroll to the bottom for the picture link. For your convenience I have linked each week's blog post here:

Please note, if you are not seeing ANY pictures of your child, it is because you did not give permission for their picture to be posted on the blog. If you have changed your mind and decided you would like to see pictures of your child on the blog, please let myself or the office know so we can update the FOIP permission for your child.
