A Week for the Dogs

After noticing that several of our students like to pretend to be dogs during playtime, I decided to have a dog week here in PK.

Dog Puppets

Some of our students chose to make dog puppets during playtime this week. This was especially a big hit on Thursday afternoon when students were busy making puppets and then bringing them into their play.

Who Let the Dogs Out?

As we continue to learn the rules and routines of the gymnasium, we played a very simply freeze game using the song Who Let the Dogs Out? The students loved playing this simple little game and were delighted at the opportunity to pretend to be dogs in the gym too!

Dog Show and Tell

Thank you to all of the parents who participated by emailing in a picture for our dog show and tell. Unfortunately the roads were terrible the day we did this show and tell and many of our students missed out. To make up for this, we will redo our dog show and tell next week on Tuesday!

If you have already emailed in a picture, you are good to go; if you have not yet sent a picture, you are still welcome to do so! Pictures of your child with their dog, dog stuffed animal, or any other animal or stuffed animal are all welcomed!

Spell-A-Thon Prize Winners!

Our class had three lucky spell-a-thon prize winners this year! I was so proud of how well the students did in recognizing their names. Thank you to the families who donated to this very important fundraiser for our school!

What is a Zig-Zag?

A zig-zag is something new I am trying this year in Pre-K. We know that preschoolers love consistent routine, but sometimes our days do not always work out that way.

A zig-zag is when the routine of our day is changed, and it's okay. We are currently working on teaching our students what a zig-zag is. We have experienced some different zig-zags this past week, including, having our story time while we sat at the tables instead of on the floor, as well as the big zig-zag of the park being closed on the day it was too icy to play outside.

We will be using the following zig-zag picture to show our students that we are having a zig-zag in our day.

Zig-zags can be small, like having our snack after we go to the gym instead of before, or big, like having an unexpected emergency evacuation. If changes in routine are hard for your child at home, you might want to introduce zig-zags at your house as well! I am happy to email the zig-zag visual to anybody who would like a copy for using with their child at home.
