January 23-25

Zoom Zoom Zoom, We're Going to The Moon!

We started our space unit this past week, and we had lots of intergalactic adventures!

Astronaut Helmets!

Every astronaut needs a good helmet. During playtime several of our students chose to make themselves a helmet. These helmets led to hours of space play in our room.

Moon Painting!

Our four-year-olds worked hard on Monday to cut, print their name, AND paint a moon! Phew, this was big work! I am so impressed with how their cutting skills are coming along. Every Monday we will have a getting ready for kindergarten focus as we slide into the second half of our school year.

Feed the Aliens!

On Tuesday, everyone had a chance to try out cutting. We practiced snipping straws to feed to the baby aliens. It's important to cut the food small so the babies don't choke! I use this little poem when I teach cutting, it's easy to remember and could be helpful if you are going to cut at home too.

Cutting Poem

Fingers in the bottom,

Thumb on top.

Open the mouth,

and go chop, chop chop!
