We had a short little pumpkin week here in EIP. The students learned a pumpkin poem, we worked together to colour a giant pumpkin, and we also had little pumpkin buckets in our fall sensory table.

In our water table, there was a fresh batch of leaf soup that was fun to mix, measure, and pour.

This week we learned a finger play about pumpkins. This finger play was a big hit, especially the part of making spooky wind sounds! I have included the words below incase you want to do this poem at home as well.

Five Little Pumpkins
Five little pumpkins sitting on a gate. (put up 5 fingers)
The first one said "Oh my it's getting late." (point to your watch to show the time)
The second one said "There are witches in the air!" (point in the air at the witches)
The third one said "But we don't care!" (shake your finger no)
The fourth one said "Let's run and run and run!" (pretend to run)
The fifth one said "I'm ready for some fun." (show two thumbs up)
Ooooooooooooo went the wind and out went the light (cup hands around mouth - "make spooky wind sounds," clap your hands - flick off your lights)
And the five little pumpkins rolled out of sight. (roll arms together)

Our three-year-olds had their first Friday class this past week. It was a quieter environment with only our younger batch of students present. Three-year-old Friday's will be happening one Friday morning per month. If you have a child in the three-year-old group, be sure to keep an eye on your calendar, as the day was a fun change of pace for our students!

We had fun playing a new game in the gym this week: tow trucks and broken trucks! The students loved this game that allows them to use pool noodles and pull each other around on scooters.

Our Musical Fence!
Our Musical Fence!
Some of you might have noticed the beginning of our musical fence! Our musical fence consists of old pots and pans zip tied to the fence in our backyard area that the children can use for making music. If you have any old pot or pans to donate to our musical fence, we will be happy to take them off of your hands! The students love to bang on them and create beautiful music.

A special thanks goes out to Kim Khalamov for the cherry play dough this past week! How exciting to have a batch of play dough that smells good - the students loved playing with this special treat.

Parent-Teacher Meetings, Games Night, Book Fair!
On Thursday, October 26th, Robina Baker will be hosting parent-teacher meetings, a book fair, as well as a family games night!

EIP parents are not required to attend parent-teacher meetings, as we will be having family conference meetings at the end of November where you will be invited to come in and talk specifically about your child's programming and goals. However, if you would like to touch base with me before then, you are more than welcome to sign up for a timeslot on Thursday, October 26th. The sign up schedule can be found in the Principal's Corner update that was sent out this afternoon, or by clicking here.

If you would like to sign up for a timeslot to chat with me, please feel welcome to do so! You will also have the opportunity to sign up for an IPP meeting at the end of November where we will take time to sit down and talk about your child's progress and goals.

Parents are welcome to come watch this fun parade in our school gym
Afternoon students are welcome to attend the parade with their parents if they would like!
November 9th - Photo Retake Day
These pictures are scheduled for the morning. If your child is in the afternoon class and you would like them to have a retake photo, please bring them to the school around 9:00 am so they can have their picture taken. You will take your child home after their picture is done and they are welcome to come back to school in the afternoon for their regular class time.
