Painting with Dinos!

On Monday we explored with dinosaurs and paint. We tried making dinosaur footprints, face prints, and even using the dinosaurs as a paintbrush!

Dinosaurs in Lava

On Tuesday, each student had their own dinosaur sensory bin where they created "lava explosions" using vinegar and baking soda.

Pink Shirt Day

Pink shirt day was on Wednesday. I used the book Lila and the Crow to engage the students in an age-appropriate conversation about including others. In the story, Lila is teased because of her black hair. We talked about how this would make Lila feel and what we could do if we saw someone getting teased at school. We also discussed how it doesn't matter what colour someone's hair is or what they are wearing, it does not change who they are and we can still be friends!

My Heart Fills With Happiness

After reading this simple story about what makes your heart happy, we took time to reflect on the things that make us happy. Check out our thoughtful responses below!

Hatching Baby Dinos

Thursday was a big day for our little paleontologists. We used water, salt, and hammers to "hatch" baby dinosaurs! The students had the opportunity to use real hammers, I was so proud of how careful everyone was with these adult tools while trying to smash open their eggs.

Dinos at the Park!

We ended dinosaur week with one last outdoor dino adventure by bringing some dinosaurs out to the park with us!

Mail Monday

We have been quarantining your children's arts, crafts, and other mail over each weekend to be sent home on Mondays. For the most part, we will try to follow this pattern of mail Mondays. It would be helpful if you could send your child's mailbag on Mondays (or every day) to help with our mail delivery process!

Virtual Calming Room

We have been learning different ways to calm down when our feelings are big and out of control. Recently this virtual calming room was shared with me. I have adapted it for pre-k and we have been trying the different links to use as calming tools when we are at school.

You are welcome to use the calming room with your children at home too! In the picture, you can click on the images to access different calming activities and websites.

You can also access this calming room through the "Links" tab at the top of my Google site.
