Our EIP team would love to wish our families that celebrate, a very happy Thanksgiving this weekend. May you have wonderful food and quality time with your loved ones.
It was another successful week here in Early Intervention Pre-K (EIP). Fall is definitely in the air, and we had fun playing with all of the amazing leaves outside. I am still waiting for the office to give me the green light on posting pictures of all of our EIP cuteness, but I promise, the pictures will be worth the wait!
We used dish brushes this week to paint fall coloured leaves on trees. Painting is a fun sensory experience that encourages hand-eye coordination and fine motor skill development.
We also had some fall leaves on our light table and in a sensory bin that the children enjoyed exploring, making pictures with, and hiding toys under!
It's Toque and Mittens Time!
As we dive deeper into fall, please consider packing a toque and mittens in your child's backpack. We love to play outside as much as we can, so it's important that everyone is dressed for the weather!
A special thanks goes out to Dani Jones for making play dough for us this past week! The bright colours were a huge hit. If you are interested in making us a batch of play dough, please click here to sign up. Play dough is so easy to make, click here for my mom's amazing recipe!
We learned a new calm down tool this week: glitter jars. We talked about how to use a glitter jar and turned on some quiet music while we shook our jars and watched the glitter fall. I was impressed that many of our students were able to quietly use their glitter jar for three minutes! Most students love watching the glitter fall. Glitter jars are such a great relaxation tool and they are fairly easy to make; if you wanted to make a glitter jar for your house, there are many simple recipes available online.
We are so lucky to have weekly visits from our school's music teacher, Mr. Scott! The students love when Mr. Scott comes, and he usually comes with a ukulele in his hand and ready to teach us a few new songs as well.
The school pictures are now available online. Simply go to smartphotography.ca, enter your code, and choose your backgrounds!
Retake day is happening on November 9th. If your child missed picture day, or if you would like retakes, please let me know and we can make arrangements to have your child's picture taken on this day.
