September 20-23

We are Settling Right in!

I am happy to report that everyone seems to be settling nicely into the routine of school. We have been having fun playing with each other and making new friends at school!

I am still waiting for the green light to post pictures on the blog. I am saving all of our precious memories and will share them with you when it's time!

How to Cover Your Coughs and Sneezes

We have been continuing to work on how to cover our coughs and sneezes. This week we talked about covering with a Vampire cape. We also enjoyed this cute little video on how to cover your mouth when you are going to sneeze, I have included the video below incase you want to watch it with your child at home too!

More Pete!

Our class cannot get enough of Pete the Cat! This week we enjoyed Pete the Cat and His Four Groovy Buttons. This book is so fun, the kids don't even realize it is teaching and reinforcing early numeracy and literacy skills with every read!

The Name Game

We also enjoyed playing a little name game on Monday and Tuesday. Playing simple little name games helps the kids to learn each other's names and is always a good time.

Paint Shirts Needed!

We would love to start painting at school. We will not be sharing paint shirts as part of our covid regulations, and as a result, we do not have enough paint shirts for each student!

Please send a paint shirt for your child that we can keep here at school. Old men's dress shirts work great (we put them on backwards), or any oversized t-shirt that is easy to put on and will fit over top of your child's outfit will work too. If you do not have a paint shirt that's okay, we have some here, we just do not have enough for everybody!

Orange Shirt Day

To ensure all of our students have the opportunity to participate in orange shirt day, we will be doing it two times! We will wear orange shirts on BOTH Tuesday, September 28th and Wednesday, September 29th.

If your child does not have an orange shirt please do not stress out, it is okay! We will still be participating in orange shirt day activities and contribute to reconciliation at a level that is appropriate for Pre-K!

Truth and Reconciliation Day

There will be NO SCHOOL on Thursday, September 30th in honour of Truth and Reconciliation Day.

Please Label Your Child's Belongings

Please write your child's name on every item they bring to school (hoodies, lunch kits, water bottles, backpacks, shoes, toques, mittens, etc.). Random items always seem to end up on the floor and with so many students in pre-k, it is difficult for our staff to know who's belongings are who's!
