Our students and staff enjoyed a beautiful fall day on Friday to do our Terry Fox Walk. Things were slightly different this year and we had a shorter route, but our students still enjoyed the event and many of you supported the Terry Foundation with an online donation. Thank you so much! If you would still like to make a donation, you can click on this link:

STUDENT ILLNESS INFORMATION

** I am adding these two documents one more time. Please familiarize yourself with them. Do you have questions with regards to what happens if your child becomes ill? Check out the Alberta Health document below for a great detailed but short summary. This document guides how our school responds to student illness and the questions surrounding it.

The flow chart below might make it a little easier to understand what to do when your child is ill. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to call the school!

The following items were "found" outside at the end of last week. Please let your child's teacher know if one of these items belongs to your child. We will not be storing lost and found items for more than a week. To help us out with lost items, please ensure that things like masks, jackets, lunch kits, and water bottles are all labelled.

Orange Shirt Day September 30

On Wednesday, September 30 we will be wearing orange to show our support for Orange Shirt Day! The annual Orange Shirt Day on September 30th opens the door to global conversation on all aspects of Residential Schools. It is an opportunity to create meaningful discussion and share age appropriate information with our students through story and activities.

To Parents of Kindergarten Children:

In the Spring, the Board set the Kindergarten Enhanced Fee at $100, to cover the cost of enhanced, in-school activities and field trip expenses for Kindergarten students. With the uncertainty surrounding out-of-school field trips for the 2020-2021 school year, the Division will be charging the Kindergarten Enhanced Fee in 2 installments. $50.00 wil be charged in September to all Kindergarten children. A reassessment will be completed in January, reviewing both the expenses to-date as well as changes to field trip availability and activities planned for the remainder of the school year. The remaining $50.00 will be charged on February 1, if it is determined that the fee will be used to enhance Kindergarten education.

Black Gold School Division

Please join us for our School Council and Fundraising Committee meetings. Our first meeting this year will be held on Monday, September 28 at 6:30 pm. You will need to follow safety protocols for this in person meeting. You will need to hand sanitize upon entering the building and will need to wear a mask until you are seated. We will be physically distanced for our meeting and have hand sanitizer available. Due to the physical distance requirements, we need an RSVP to know how many will be in attendance so that we can set up a space with the appropriate number of chairs.
