Merry Christmas and best wishes to our RBES families from all of us. We hope that you all have a wonderful and safe holiday season. We look forward to seeing all of our students virtually on Monday, January 4, 2021 and back in person on Monday, January 11, 2021 as per provincial guidelines. If you missed our Christmas video that was sent out via email, you can check it out here:

Your child can fill you in on how it worked. It truly was a collaborative effort and in the end every class got a gift . . . some were more glamourous than others and some may have even involved a small harmless prank; but all included some love and a little something for each student.
Students and staff at RBES have hearts filled with gratitude, love, and joy! Over the past week, RBES students created beautiful hand-drawn cards for the residents of Discovery Place, as well as firefighters, police officers, and medical staff in our communities. This holiday season, we hope our gratitude, love, and joy spread far and wide across Devon, Leduc, and Edmonton!!
Merry Christmas!
Thank you Dr. Murtha-Toles for organizing this through your health classes and for making the deliveries on behalf of RBES!
PJ day and movie afternoon were the perfect topper on a wonderful Christmas spirit filled day. Our office team prepared a treat bag for each of the students that sat in quarantine for over a week to ensure each student's safety and these individually wrapped packages brought a smile to many faces during our afternoon viewing of Polar Express. Our traditional movie in the gym looked a little different as the students sat in their classrooms to watch, but there were many happy faces everywhere! One student told Mrs. K that we should have PJs as a school uniform, because everyone is smiling today. The Christmas spirit was definitely reaching all corners of RBES on Friday! You can see more PJ DAY PHOTOS at this link.
At-Home Learning will happen from January 4-8, 2021. You will receive specific information from your child's teacher regarding the learning that students will be doing. We need to stress that this is different from the virtual learning this past spring. Students are expected to do a full day's worth of curriculum and will follow their in-school schedule of times.
Print packages were sent home and we ask that those be left unopened and kept in a special place until they are needed. We are going to be offering an online portion for each student in addition to the print package. For GRADE 4 students only, the online portion is MANDATORY. For students in PK-Grade 3 the sessions are OPTIONAL and are there as a support for both the parents and the student. The online portion will help get the day of activities set up and it will provide access to fairly expedient support should it be required.
An email with more details and a small handbook to answer all At-Home Learning questions will be sent out a few days prior to January 4th. We thought parents might like to know the online schedule in advance and that is outlined below for your convenience.
Do you require some support or ideas for At-Home Learning? You can view some wonderful tips from our Black Gold OTs and SLPsat this link: AT HOME TIPS
PLEASE DON'T FORGET TO DO THIS and THANK YOU to those that already have! Families are asked to indicate their choice of learning experience by noon on January 6, 2021. Black Gold School Division can then organize resources and staff to support students and families for the start of the second semester on February 1, 2021.
Simply log on to PowerSchool and complete the form called "Declaration of Choice of Learning Experience - Semester 2". If you have any PowerSchool questions regarding the process of completing the form, or if you are having issues logging on to PowerSchool, please call the office at 780-987-3705.
Even if you are not changing programming - you must complete the form. THANK YOU!
