DECEMBER 6, 2020

In case you missed it . . . Students will do At-Home Learning from January 4-8th. You can see details in the next paragraph below. We will send print packages home with all students by Friday, December 11. Please store these away until January. Our staff is still working out some of the details of what this will look like and we will keep you posted once we get everything finalized.

This past week we had a new announcement from the Alberta Government with some new restrictions for schools. If you missed that announcement, you can click HERE to view it. Black Gold emailed all parents the following document with our "At-Home Learning" guidelines for the coming weeks. The focus this past week was on Junior High and High Schools getting things sorted out. This coming week, Black Gold will focus on more details for the elementary schools. Watch for more information in the next week.

Thank you to all the parents/caregivers who supported our efforts this past week by wearing a mask to drop off/pick up your child(ren). We appreciate your support with this. Let's all continue to be safe together! Christmas is coming and we would all love to reach that milestone and be healthy. THANK YOU RBES PARENTS AND COMMUNITY!!!

Next virtual meeting is: Monday, December 7th starting at 6:00 pm with School Council first, followed by the Fundraising Committee meeting.

All parents, including our DL (distance learning) families, are encouraged to join us!

CHRISTMAS GIFTS AND APPRECIATION

We have had a few parents / families reach out to ask if it is ok to send in Christmas gifts to our staff. As much as we appreciate you thinking of us, and in the interest of safety, we kindly ask that you instead consider one of these other options.

  • Send in a card with a thoughtful greeting.

  • Make a donation in the staff member's name to the Devon Christmas Elves or another charity.

  • Send an e-gift card.

  • Include a gift card with your Christmas card.

We kindly ask that you not send in gifts in any shape or form. A small card is easy for us to quarantine and set aside to open in a few days, but a gift bag or a beautifully wrapped package presents too many opportunities for extra touch surfaces and transmission. We are all trying to be extra careful, so that we may all enjoy a healthy Christmas break with our families. Thank you for your understanding!

Our Grade 3s are learning about Global Citizenship. These posters are from a group of studentsin 3A who read some articles and watched some news clips and wanted to do their part to remind others to keep our oceans clean!

There are lots of events/items coming soon to RBES and we wanted you to have an idea of what to expect in the next couple of months.
