We finally had some beautiful weather this week and a few of our grade 3 students felt that a rest in the warm grass and the sun was the perfect way to enjoy one of their recesses!

APR 9 2021 Assembly

One of our last weekly Friday contests for students was to submit a whole class generated statement about: What makes you proud to be a Robina Baker Raptor. Check out some of the awesome submissions below. Unfortunately due to some technology issues, some submissions were lost in cyber space, however, the ones that did make it through were all worth sharing! It makes our staff all proud to be Raptors to!

What is a RAD RAPTOR you may ask? This is a student who is caught in the moment by their teacher demonstrating one or more of the RAD RAPTOR characteristics. The following is a list of the traits that may have been demonstrated: Cooperation, Honesty, Patience, Respect, Generosity, Kindness, Perseverance, and Responsibility.

All Rad Raptors for the week will be celebrated in class, sent to the office to an excited cheering squad where certificates will be signed and then students will have their picture taken. All Rad Raptors for the week will have their pictures featured at the Friday morning assembly and in the Weekly Update in a slide show. Once per month there will be a special draw for all of that month's Rad Raptors. These awards are meant to be spontaneous and in the moment to catch students doing something great. It may be something small, something that has challenged them and they have overcome, or something that a student demonstrates regularly every day. Students will be recognized for a large variety of accomplishments and so far we can tell you that each Rad Raptor has been super excited and very PROUD of themselves. Our Rad Raptor student celebration is new and updated to replace our previous student of the week celebration. All students in K-4 will be a part of this program (Kinders will start after spring break).

3A is our featured class this week with a very cool digital project. Their digital art project was inspired by an indigeneous Canadian artist, Jason Carter. With the use of special tools on Google Slides they were able to create their Canadiana art scene.
