June 7, 2020

As we mentioned last week; The Robina Baker Grade 4 team is working hard behind the scenes to celebrate our wonderful Grade 4 students. This coming Friday, the Grade 4 teachers and the admin team will be doing a special parade for the grade 4s which will also include a special delivery . . . Shhhhh! We hope to keep this a secret and to surprise them! If you have not filled out the grade 4 survey for this drop off yet, please click on this link to participate: Grade 4 special parade survey

We need the survey filled out by noon on Monday, June 8 in order to get our parade route organized in time for Friday. Thank you in advance to all of the parents for their help with this!

There will be another email in the first half of this coming week with a special video message for our grade 4 students to help with some of the jitters of going to Riverview in the fall. Be sure to watch for that and share it with your children!

LIBRARY BOOK RECALL

WEEK OF JUNE 22-25:

We will have a library book drop off during the week of June 22-25. Please watch for details in next week's update!

IMPORTANT UPDATE!! We received this communication from Jostens Yearbook Division this week:

Like many other production facilities all over the world we have been forced to close one of ours and limit the amount of workers in the other plant due to social distancing and to ensure everyone is safe and stays healthy. Unfortunately this has pushed back production another 2-3 weeks. So with this in mind I am sorry to say I received confirmation this morning that your books will not be shipped prior to the end of the school year. If by chance I can arrange for them to arrive at the beginning of July and someone can be at the school to accept delivery I am more than happy to look into this for you.

Mrs. Kloschinsky confirmed that she would be available to accept delivery at any time. We will communicate with everyone who ordered when the yearbooks arrive and what the delivery plan will be.

Don't forget to check out our Raptor Chats each week. Mr. Coffin and Mrs. Kloschinsky both really enjoy hearing from you all afterwards!

If you haven't seen this week's episode yet, please click on the Raptor Chat tab above, or click on this link: Raptor Chat - Episode 10

Next Year Kindergarten Registrations

If you know of anyone who is thinking about starting Kindergarten in the Fall, please let them know they can register online: http://www.blackgold.ca/schools/programs/kindergarten/

Children may begin Kindergarten if they are at least 5 years old as of December 31, 2020.

We hope everyone has been keeping safe and healthy … physically, mentally and emotionally. These past several weeks have created many challenges for all of us … children, parents and teachers. We were not able to execute our annual Teacher Appreciation this spring. We want to send a HUGE shout out to all of the teachers and support staff at RBES. We know there could not be a better group of people molding the lives of our young children. All of the love that is shown on a daily basis is above and beyond what is expected of a school. Our kids are missing the interaction and the interest you take in their daily lives, and truly, so are we as parents. This year has definitely proven that you are all an ENORMOUS part of their lives, of their upbringing and that YOU DO make an impact. As the saying goes “It takes a village to raise a child.”

From all of the parents and children … THANK YOU!!!

Black Gold Ward Review Survey

Due to the annexation of land within Leduc County and the City of Beaumont by the City of Edmonton, The Board of Trustees of The Black Gold School Division is undertaking a review of their current ward structure. As part of the review, the Board of Trustees explored the possibility of reducing the number of Trustees within Black Gold but critical analysis revealed that seven was the optimal number for equitable representation. They are inviting all constituents to take 5 minutes to provide their feedback on the two options presented in the Black Gold School Division Electoral Boundary Review Survey https://bit.ly/BGSDBoundarySurvey. The survey is open until noon on June 15, 2020.
