What A Cold Week!
We decided not to let the cold weather keep us from our Winter Walk on Wednesday, February 6! We "bundled up" with our toques and mitts and walked throughout the school! We will be rescheduling our outside Winter Walk when we see a break in the weather!
RAPTOR SPIRIT WEAR STORE CLOSES SOON!
RAPTOR SPIRIT WEAR is available for purchase. We have our own website store. Click on the link above or the picture to the left to enter the website. Scroll down and you will see a "School Apparel for Students" box to click on to enter the store. There are 5 items available for purchase and the store is open until FEBRUARY 15. For parents who have been asking . . . there are adult sizes available as well. There are links on each product page to get size specifications. Any questions, let us know!
RBES Annual Spell-A-Thon
On Monday we are kicking off our Sixth Annual Spell-a-thon! The Spell-a-thon test will be help on Thursday, February 21st. The list will be 50 core words for each grade from 1-4, 10 words for Kindergarten students and Pre-K will be tested on the spelling of their name. You may sponsor in any way you want (ie. a total dollar amount or 0.25￠per word spelled correctly). We hope this will be an added incentive for children to become better spellers, as well as a fundraiser for our school.
For every $10 in pledges received, the child’s name will be entered in a draw to win prizes. As well, the class with the most 100%’s wins a Dairy Queen ice cream party and the class that raises the most money will win a Dominos pizza party! IGA also celebrates our student’s success with a free Raptor cupcake for a “BEST EVER” effort and Tim Hortons rewards all 100% marks with a free cookie, donut or muffin!

Kindergarten Registration
Children may begin Kindergarten in September if they are five (5) years of age by March 1, 2020. Registration is now open!
Pre-K Registration
Children may begin Pre-Kindergarten if they are four (4) years of age by January 1. Registration is now open!

New Session of BOKS
We will be offering a second session of BOKS starting March 5! The BOKS Program (Build Our Kids’ Success) promotes the impact that physical activity has on a child’s mind, body and spirit. The program aims to get elementary school aged children moving in the morning to help ready their brains for a day of focused learning. BOKS was founded on the principal that ACTIVE KIDS = ACTIVE MINDS. Research has shown that exercise is the single most powerful tool that we have to optimize the function of our brains. We encourage you to learn more about the BOKS program at www.bokskids.ca
Registration will begin on February 18. Online registration link will be emailed to all Grade 1- 4 families. If your child is currently in BOKS, their last day for this session will be Wednesday, February 6. Please let us know via email if you would like your child to continue in the program.
Current BOKS students don't need to re-register just let us know that you would like to continue.
Circle of Security Information:
Circle of Security is a relationship based early intervention program designed to enhance attachment security between parents/caregivers and children. Research shows that secure children exhibit increased empathy, greater self-esteem, better relationships with parents and peers, enhanced school readiness and an increased capacity to handle emotions more effectively.
