ASSEMBLY UPDATE:

RBES students have spent the month of September and will continue on in the month of October to learn about the character trait of Respect. The big topics are: What does this LOOK like? What does this SOUND like? What does respect FEEL like? Curious to see our agenda. You can click here to see the content of last Friday's assembly. Each week we focus on one area of our student conduct policy to focus on. This past week was all about the bootroom!

Please remember to dress warmly! We play outside for recess and need to be prepared for the cold temperatures!

CROSS COUNTRY TEAM SCHOOL RACE

Our team decided to do a school race on Friday at lunch recess and although our spectators were a bit overexcited and not sure how it all worked, our team members enjoyed the thrill of performing in front of their peers. All of our students ran an excellent race around a course that was mapped out on our school field. Our top 3 finishers in each of the boys and girls races received a gift certificate for a free cone from Dairy Queen! Well done everyone -- I am so PROUD of each one of you!

Read In Week

What is Read-In Week? Click here for more information.

Do you have a few minutes to spare this week? Would you like to volunteer to read to a class during our Read In week? Email our librarian gayle.sacuta@blackgold.ca to pick a date and time during the week of Oct. 7-11! We look forward to seeing many guest readers during the week.

ORANGE SHIRT DAY

Our students and staff were very fortunate to have a guest speaker come in on Monday, September 30 for Orange Shirt Day. Elder Sydney Courtepatte of the Michel Band came in to share some of his knowledge with our students and staff. We were very fortunate to learn about some of the history of the Indigenous People in Canada and how some of their basic clothing items are now embedded in modern day clothing or uniforms. The students were particularly interested in the large moose hide and all the different animals that were used to make the clothing. It was a great day of learning.
