RBES students were so lucky to all be entered into a draw today to have a chance to win a kindness shirt. We would like to send out a big THANK YOU to Shelley Kellington of In Other Words Home Decor who donated several t-shirts that we will be giving away as prizes throughout the month.

There were so many students participating in our Pink, Red, and White day that it was a wonderful sea of color at our school today. You can see a few pictures below and as always we have other pictures for you to look at. For more Pink, Red, and White Day pictures, CLICK HERE.

The long awaited Raptor Spirit Wear is here! We have an online store with 5 options for our students. You can see the items below. The hoodie, short sleeve, and long sleeve t-shirt are available in blue, grey, and black. We will also have a baseball style t-shirt and a baseball cap. There are both youth and adult sizes available and parents are welcome to order spirit wear as well. You can access the online store at this LINK or you can click on the image below. The store will be open until Sunday, February 21. Please be sure that you check the size charts for accuracy as there are no refunds.

The RBES Fundraising Committee has been hard at work trying to get community grants and needs your help now with this covid friendly fundraiser. You can click on any of the pictures below to take you directly to an online donation site. Tax receipts will be issued for donations over $20. Our "Fun"raiser will run for the month of February.

The cost of some of the individual playground pieces are in the picture below for those who are interested. Also, if there are any local businesses or families who would like to donate a minimum of $100 or to purchase one piece of equipment, your name / company logo will be a part of our appreciation wall that will be permanently displayed in our playground. Thank you in advance for your support!

Due to COVID, the way students take out books from school libraries has had to be adapted. After taking some time to carefully develop a plan on how the students can take out material safely, we have started to implement what Grade 3B has lovingly dubbed "UberBooks" (because "it's like UberEats but for books").

I've started going to classes from Grade 2 to 4 and teaching them how to put holds on items using the online library catalogue. As I've explained to them, I then get a message telling me that they want the book, which I check out to them and deliver to their class. They are then allowed to keep up to two books (which stay in class) for up to three to four weeks, after which time the items are quarantined for a week and can then be taken out by someone else.

We came to the number of quarantine days based on research done specifically on how long covid stays on different library materials as well as which storage method is best for quarantine (the REALM project by the OCLC library consortium). The result was that books stored vertically are safe to be reused after three days, so we decided to add a few extra days for quarantine just to be on the extra-safe side.

Please be sure to keep up-to-date on the library and visit me on my blog! CLICK HERE FOR BLOG LINK!
