WEEKLY UPDATE: OCTOBER 14, 2018

Earth Rangers are coming to Robina Baker!

We are so excited to be having the Earth Rangers come to our school on Tuesday, October 23 at 2:00 pm. Earth Rangers engage children all across Canada through their programs. Through the power of live animal demonstrations and positive, science-based information, their interactive, high-quality program educates students and highlights real conservation initiatives across Canada. Families are invited to join us for this amazing presentation.

You can watch this video for a sneak peak of what an Earth Ranger Assembly looks like.

Week 5: October 12, 2018

SCHOOL BOARD VISIT

The BGRS School Board had a visit with us on Thursday, October 9. They enjoyed walking around our school and visiting classrooms. Our grade 4 tour guides did an outstanding job! Thank you Blake, Titus, Audrey, Austin, Layne and Stuart for representing RBES so well and for being so flexible. Unfortunately, our visit was interrupted in the morning and when the Board returned in the afternoon, we didn't catch everyone in our photos.

BLUE FLAME KITCHEN CLASSROOM VISITS

4A & 4B learn some culinary skills!

Some of our grade 4s got a taste of what it's like to be in the kitchen. The Blue Flame Kitchen visit got rave reviews from these two classrooms. The students got to make some fresh salsa and fruit salad. They learned food safety, how to handle a knife safely and lots of other handy tidbits. This opportunity is paid for by our AB ED nutrition grant ($15 each) and from the reviews was so worth the investment. The rest of our grade 3s and 4s will get to do this workshop in a couple of weeks. Parents: try out our RBES parent workshop on Oct. 23. See information below!

Families in the Kitchen

Getting the family involved with meal prep fosters good relationships and a lifetime of healthy eating. With this one hour presentation, not only will families learn how to get everyone involved in the kitchen, they will also be shown proper knife skills, learn how to check if the internal temperature of meat is cooked and learn how to make easy homemade granola bars.

Participants will enjoy a one hour presentation with samples – No-Bake Cereal Bars.

Program includes all materials, handouts and samples. All recipes and reference material will be available for guests to take home.

Date: Tuesday, October 23rd, 2018

Time: 6:00 - 7:00

Location: RBES Meeting Place

Lice Check!

Anytime is a great time to check for lice - but at Robina Baker we like to do a school check to be proactive and help parents catch head lice early. If you would like to help, please call the school at 780-987-3705 and we will connect you with our amazing Lice Check Team! We always recommend that parents check their child's head frequently. On our website you will find great information and videos on how to check and what to do if you find lice.
