We are having so much fun with our weekly Friday assemblies and working around the challenges of technology and that we are virtual. This week we had a really fun contest on Self-Care and 1C was our winners this week! The following graphic shows our top 3 classes in our contest and the coping strategies are a few that we have been learning about.
Our annual school board visit looked a little different this year. Below is a random screenshot that was taken during our discussion with the board and the grade 4 classes and some student representatives. We sure appreciated hearing from both the students and the teachers and they were happy to share the highlights and the challenges at RBES with our School Division. Thank you to Teagan, Skyla, Henry, Gavin, Owen, and Tessa for being so brave and trying this new experience. You were all AWESOME representatives of our school!
Students in grade 4 are able to take books out of the library using the Destiny system to make their choices. The books have to stay in the school (classroom), but we are pleased that things have been figured out with our grade 4s to give them opportunities to choose books from the library to read. We will be making our way into the grade 3s and 2s next to given them a chance to "take out" a book under a similar method. It unfortunately, is not a simple process as books have to be quarantined once they are returned from the students. Teachers have also been taking some books out to share with their classes as well.
Black Gold School Division has approved the following calendar for the 2021-2022 school year. You can also find it on the BG website at THIS LINK!
Wow! Our Grade 4 students knocked it out of the park with their art based on the book, Painted Skies. It is a beautiful Inuit Legend and our students created some tremendous art to go along with their learning. Enjoy some of the samples below!
The pandemic has caused delays and made it difficult to accomplish some of our goals at RBES and fundraising for our new playground is one of those areas that has been affected. Our RBES Fundraising Committee works hard each year to provide some basics for your children, such as paying for agendas and our Mathletics subscription. They have also been hard at work trying to get some community grants and to come up with Covid friendly fundraisers for our playground. The group has also been trying to be mindful to not over inundate our parents with fundraising and general asks for money. We have been lucky enough to have been granted a Casino to help with our fundraising, however, that is delayed; again due to Covid restrictions. In the meantime, we have a donation drive coming shortly and details will be released in the coming days. Stay Tuned!
