ASSEMBLY UPDATE:

RBES students continue to learn about the character trait of Respect. The students were able to meet Cst. Lackie this week and ask questions about what his role is an an RCMP officer in our community. The students really enjoyed their Q & A time with him. You can click here to see the content of Friday's assembly. Each week we focus on one area of our student conduct policy to focus on. This past week was all about lining up! Student of the Week will be starting up again in the next few weeks. We will let you know when we are ready to restart that program and weekly celebration.

CROSS COUNTRY CELEBRATION

Our cross country team was celebrated and acknowledged as this past week's assembly. They came in pep rally style one at a time and were presented with certificates. I truly enjoyed working with this group of students this year! Such a great group that has shown tremendous perseverance!

Wristband Challenge!

Congratulations to this week's winner! As many of you already know, anytime you go to the LRC (Leduc Rec Center) or anywhere else that gives out wristbands as an admission when you do something active, you can bring in your wristband to enter our weekly draw. This is organized by BGSD and our Wellness Team.

In Devon we have such a beautiful river valley and multi-pathway system that you can also earn a spot in our draw by doing a minimum of 15 minutes of outside exercise. Then simply email one of the office staff and we will put your name on a wrist band and enter you in the draw.

What do you win? A complimentary pass to the LRC for the student and one parent (adult). Let's all stay active!

Thank You !

Thank you to all our families who donated to the Food Bank! The SWAT Team did a great job organizing the food drive and will continue to accept donations of new socks for their Socktober campaign! The deadline to donate socks is Oct. 25! Thank you in advance for your generosity.

We are pleased to be partnering with the Devon Lion's Club to offer our Kindergarten and Grade 1 students, a free vision screening test. The test provided by the Devon Lion's Club is designed to detect possible defects in their vision and recommend referral to a qualified eye care professional – optometrist or ophthalmologist – who can recommend further treatment, if necessary.

This testing is available for any child aged 6 months or more. Its advantage is that the child does not need to verbalize or interpret anything. As you are well aware, young children have difficulty expressing themselves because they lack the verbal skills to do so. Other than looking briefly at the camera, the child’s participation is totally passive.

The testing will take place at Robina Baker Tuesday, October 29 and Wednesday, October 30. The Lion's Club requires parent's permission for the free exam - so please complete the permission form that will be available on PowerSchool on Tuesday, October 22.

If this is something that your family is interested in, please have your child sign it out from the library. It will be available starting next week: October 29th.

Book Fair October 22-24

Join us at the Book Fair October 22 - 24! It is a great way to support the library by helping us raise funds to buy a book cart and of course get new and exciting titles added to our library. The book Fair will be open in the evening during Parent-Teacher Meetings on Wednesday, October 23.

Parent Teacher Meetings

We will be holding our annual Parent Meetings on Wednesday, October 23 from 3:30 to 7:00 pm. Your child’s teacher may also be available for additional time throughout the week - please touch base with them. Both kinder teachers will be in on Tuesday, October 22 as well. Some teachers have added time on Thursday, October 24. Wednesday will be a common time for those families that have more than one child at our school.

To book your time, just go to SignUp website & choose Robina Baker Parent-Teacher Meetings

HALLOWEEN IS COMING! Please join us!

Reminder: COSTUME PARADE on October 31!

All Robina Families are invited to join us for our annual costume parade at 9:00 am on Thursday, October 31. Please feel free to dress up as we end our parade with all our other guests doing a lap of the gym to share their costumes. Please keep costume choices preschool friendly. Many of our younger children get frightened by overly gory or scary costumes. Some costume guidelines are listed below. If you are unsure of your costume choice, please email the classroom teacher to do a check in. If costumes that include weapons are brought to school, the weapons will be taken away and returned at the end of the day. Thank you in advance for helping to keep our Halloween day fun and safe!
