March 8, 2020

Our family movie night was a huge success. With around 100 people filling the gym with pillows, blankets, lawn chairs, stuffies, and of course snacks; they all snuggled in to watch The Lion King!

Thank you to our School Council for organizing this fun night and creating an affordable and great way for our families to spend a Friday evening. Extra special thanks to our chair, Blake Adams, and our vice chair, Lorie Stelter, for being the chief organizers.

THEME OF THE MONTH: COOPERATION/TEAMWORK

Our theme of the month for March is Cooperation / Teamwork. Also with the current flu virus focus in the world, the students had an in depth lesson on hand washing on Friday. You can check out the rest of the agenda below. Congratulations to all of this week's Students of the Week! You can click here for individual photos!

Wrist Band Challenge Winners

Week 20: March 6, 2020

Our RBES annual Spell-a-thon kicked off this past Tuesday. View the slide show below for all the information you will need! Your child should have brought home a package containing an information letter, pledge sheet, and spelling words to study last week. If you did not receive it, please let your child's teacher know and we will send home a new package promptly. Pledge sheets are due on March 18, the test is on March 19, pledge sheets with collected funds are due March 24 to be eligible for prizes, the ice cream and pizza party celebrations for the winning classes will be on Thursday, March 26, and all prizes will be handed out on March 27.

The monies raised this year will continue to be used to support field trips, reduced swimming lesson costs, cultural events, health and wellness projects (this could include items such as new gym equipment, new playground balls, etc., mindful tools for classrooms, emotional wellness resources and items for health and wellness days), tech upgrades and a mobile SmartBoard for assemblies in the gym and other areas as needed. For every $10 in pledges received, the child’s name will be entered in a draw to win prizes. Thank you in advance for your support as this is always a fantastic fundraiser for our school. Many of the students are excited to study their spelling words in order to win a prize and each year we give way over 100 prizes! Let the fun and nightly studying begin!

GRADE ONES GO GREEN

We are so proud to share that Robina Baker was one of 25 schools in Alberta that received a $1000 Green Up Grant from Fortis Alberta. The Green Up grant program is designed to help create or enhance an environmental program for students in elementary and junior-high schools.

Our Grade ones, who applied for the grant, have implemented an indoor garden program providing students an opportunity to learn about living things and what they need to live and grow. Thank you to Ms. GREENhough for for spearheading this GREEN Up application and for the entire Grade 1 Team for all your work in obtaining the grant and maintaining your gardens!
