H. Violent Intruder / Lockdown
I Prevention
All campuses have an electronic entrance gate and a lockable pedestrian gate.
Divisional principals and faculty / administrative assistants are made aware of current custody disputes regarding their students.
Head of School / FISW Principal is to be informed (call the office) when;
someone unusual is observed in the building
when a car is noticed lingering in the car park or around the school
when someone is noticed watching students on campus
Reception and the guard where applicable will be informed of authorized visitors on campus when possible.
All adults will wear lanyard and ID while on campus.
II Faculty/Staff Notification
The Crisis Team Chair will notify the appropriate authorities.
Faculty/staff will be alerted about the intruder by the Crisis Team Chair.
The all-clear will be given by the police and an announcement will be broadcast within the school.
The Crisis Team Chair will convene a crisis team meeting immediately following the incident.
III Faculty/Staff Action
Lock doors and close windows.
Under no circumstances may the door be opened until the all-clear is given.
Move the students away from windows or out of sight.
If you are not in a room, try to find a secure area. Do not move into corridors or open spaces.
Faculty should quietly make a record of absentees.
Do not use the telephone and ensure students do not use their mobiles.
If circumstances require, everyone should lie on the floor.
Plan with students for quick evacuation should it be necessary.
Faculty/staff should upon instruction from the Crisis Team Chair exit with students by the most appropriate exit door to field or other venue for safety.
IV When Notifying Others:
a) describe the number and appearance of intruder(s)
b) describe weapons if seen
c) number of hostages if any, who they are and where
d) type of demands being made
e) any and all instructions intruders/hostage takers may have given
f) give precise description of the affected areas of the school

VI Evacuation of Buildings
Evacuate to safe houses
Call made to bus companies if necessary
VII Crisis Team Meeting
Meet as soon as possible and discuss:
follow-up to students, parents, and faculty/staff
get information and guidance from police and faculty/staff at risk to make further plans
communication plans
